I’m sitting here with my bills in a pile in front of me…in fact, I’m reaching over them to write this, lol, and what am I doing instead of paying the gosh delightful things? Yep, surfing the web. You know how one blog post leads to checking out the blog of a commenter and on it goes? In that leisurely stroll across the web I came across several blogs with great content and some other interesting resources, so I thought I’d share. You knew I’d get to the point eventually, didn’t you?
Just a quick reminder, the Soylicious $10 sign up option ends on the 31st of this month (July 2010) at 6pm! Don’t miss out! They are a great, personalized, consultant oriented company to work with and the products are the best.
I think I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been reading about Affiliate Marketing and have found some good resources.
One of the best is the training from what used to be the 30 day Challenge, now just called The Challenge because it changed format from 30 days to about 3 months. A new Challenge is starting soon and I’ll be doing it again this year, now that I have more of a clue about what the end product looks like. Last year I was a wee bit bamboozled. It is completely free to participate and the software they utilize throughout is free during the Challenge. Of course, at the end, there are opportunities to upgrade or continue at a discounted price (they have to make a living too).
Others wonderful resources to learn from are Rosalind Gardner, Lynn Terry, and Pot Pie Girl. They all have the ability to share a somewhat complex subject like Affiliate Marketing in a simple and straightforward way and they all offer some form of free product, be it blog posts, sample pages or regular conferences and forums.
New announcement I want to share with you from SoyLicious…my comments are in green.

New Product
Watch for new product anouncements over the 4th of July Weekend!
I am very excited about several of the new fragrances, Lemongrass Verbena, Cashmere and Sweet Snow, in particular. I love lemongrass and patchouli is one of the ingredients in Cashmere. Mint and vanilla are a great winter time combination which I haven’t found in years.
Cashmere: A warm, herbal musky fragrance of sandalwood, vanilla, and patchouli, with top notes of mandarin and lime to create a sophisticated blend
Sweet Snow: A soft mint and vanilla fusion
Lemongrass Verbena: A herbal twist of refreshing lemongrass and tangy verbena
On a schedule unknown to mere mortal me, I get hormonal migraines. They hurt and they last three days, for me anyway; each woman seems to be “blessed” differently. My darling family tells me that they make me grouchy. Yep, sure enuf, lol. Headache remedies don’t work, PMS remedies take the edge off somewhat and peppermint oil does the same.
The point, you ask? I found some help in the form of an inexpensive little capsule made by Biochem called DHEA Complex for Women. I didn’t take it for the migraine help and only realized last night that the headache that had greeted me when I woke and which had persisted past dinner, was gone. The only thing I did was take the DHEA after my meal. Aha!! A wonderful discovery!
I make no money from this recommendation and am just passing along a good thing that might work for you too. Go get it here, a reasonably priced online supplement retailer, Vitacost: http://www.vitacost.com/Country-Life-DHEA-Complex-For-Women
Just because I’m eternally curious and always want a good deal, I tried a few samples from another candle company whose monthly candle deal includes shipping for the same price as our COTM. They were a blend of waxes and they affected my breathing. It seemed like there was something plasticy about the burn. That’s too bad because they have some great scents.
I will always choose the healthier alternative for my lungs and Soylicious are truly the cleanest burning candles I have found. I want the scent and I don’t want to cough.

Thought I’d show you what I’ve been working on for a looooong while now, one of those projects that my family says “Haven’t you finished that yet?” because I only work on it in spurts.
Y’all know I’m not a particularly focused individual, so of course I have many UFOs (unfinished objects) sitting around that I work on as the mood strikes, from this doll to rugs and pendants awaiting a resin coating outside on a non-humid southern day. Long wait!!
This piece is a hand sewn doll form firmly stuffed and part way encrusted with beads of various types. The form controls the bead placement.
Years ago, my first exposure to what I would call an art doll was a Native American beaded doll that my father brought home to Australia after one of his business trip to the US. She was beautiful with long flowing black hair, a white soft leather dress and moccasins embellished with seed beads. That was the beginning of an interest that would lie dormant for decades.
Ok, so my first silk paint piece was a plastic bag “dump the paint in on top” scarf and it turned out okay, though a bit pale because you start out with a wet scarf and it dilutes the paint. I’m using Dye-na-flow paints, not dyes.
My second piece, still a sharp learning curve going here, is a larger painting. This stuff flows really fast and not always where I want it. I’ve managed to fix some of the boo-boos, but see the photo below and you’ll find many more over-flows. I’m using a water based Gutta for the lines and I think switching to the chemical one will help that issue tremendously.
I’m thinking about selling my glass crafting equipment as it has been sitting around for at least a year. My son may want it, so I’ll have to check with him, but I have no idea when, as a new dad with an already ignored wood turning hobby, he’d find the time to use them.
Anyway, in case he doesn’t want them, I have a hot head torch, table assembly for that, clamps etc., a small non-controller 6 inch kiln and a variety of smaller tools and glasses. No prices figured as yet, but if there’s interest, I’ll get to that. For sure, it will be reasonable. Photos will come in a bit as well. This was just an off the cuff post.
This sale wouldn’t include everything needed to get started. In addition, you would still need to purchase kiln paper, or wash, your own glass and such. I’ll most likely keep the glass for mosaics. I suggest Delphi Glass as the best source for those items.
Rug punch has been competing with bead embroidery for my attention lately. This piece, my second ever, is to be a wall banner which says PEACE.
There are a few things I will do differently in future, now that I have a wee bit more experience. I used yarn I already had and I’m not crazy about the color choices, in fact, the white C is changing to green to show up better. The back is messy because I didn’t push the ends through as I worked, something I will never fail to do again, as it is a royal pain to do them all at once.
Anyway, it is a quick and pretty cool craft which doesn’t hurt my not so young joints.
As a mom to not only human kids, but 6 four-legged fur-kids here in the South, I have to control the ride-along critter population that tries to make them their habitat. I’ve used all the WAY OVER-PRICED commercial treatments to varying success and misery from the animals, so this year I wanted something different.
We started the Spring with food-grade Diatomaceous Earth and that was okay, though messy with white powder everywhere. Then I found Nip and Bones. They have Natural Defense essential oil based treatments It is a reasonable price (think 1/3 less that the major chemical brands) and smells great. No bad reaction from the dogs at all.
Love the results so far. It has been about 10 days and I have seen a dramatic reduction in tick attachments and only one flea and it was dead. That’s the only way they should be. I don’t know if it will last the month, but I’ll report back on that.
I make nothing from this recommendation, just so you know. It is just a good product I want to share with other fur parents.
Came across a GPT article reading site today and want to pass it on. I know nothing about whether it is legitimate or not, so use your discretion. I’ll try it out, but slowly because who has a lot of time to waste on something that may not pay?
As an aging hippie, I love one of out newest wax chunk melters, but the others are cool too. ; )
Cool huh?
Here are the others just for fairness.
I like the low profile, especially for college dorms which allow melters. Having a rising college freshperson (lol – freshman) these types of things are on my mind lately.
After 210 days of following Jessica Watson’s blog and videos of her solo circumnavigation of the world on Ella’s Pink Lady, I’m watching a live feed from Australian TV of her homecoming into Sydney Harbour. What an amazing accomplishment for anyone, but Jess is only 16 years old. That makes her the youngest person to achieve that goal. Amazing determination and endurance.
Soylicious is getting better and better. I’m so impressed! This week brings updates to the website, shopping cart and our back office, as well as changes to the ways you can join. I’m pretty excited about it actually.
The new standard way to join will be a $99 option which gets you a small amount of everything you need to start your Soylicious business: scent samples, business cards, brochures, order forms, etc. That’s great because it includes the scent samples.
In addition to that cool improvement comes a website only monthly choice. That means that you have the option of not receiving a monthly product auto-ship, but retaining your sales web site for a $10 monthly fee, so you can make money without spending much. That is great for those who are strapped and wanting to build up slowly. Personally, I use my candles of the month (COTM) candles and give some as gifts, so the regular COTM will remain my option.
Thanks Soylicious, great job in responding to the market needs!!
Oh, and if you want to still join for the $29 option, you have a few days left. The changes take place on Friday, May 7. Go to Soylicious Aroma for that.
If a business grew the way a healthy puppy does, it would be an overwhelming thing. I know, how did I get those two growth patterns tangled in a subject?
Well, my dear husband accepted a free puppy a couple of months ago because apparently he didn’t think five animals were enough. Sigh!! They were, but just like with grandkids, the more you have the more your heart grows.
Anyway, this little critter is spurting up and has gone from a small snuggler to a wild and crazy arm load who leaves a wake of destruction behind him. He has always slept well at night, so I forgive him a lot of sins. Here’s the change in just two months. I really have no clue what breeds he represents, but whatever they are, at least one is a herding breed. The cats just looooove that….not.
Here’s Bucklee several weeks ago with Charlie looking on, ready to make a hasty retreat if necessary.
Here he is a just a few days ago, looking all innocent….don’t believe it.
What drove this post? I just started promoting my Soylicious candle business online and in doing so, have encountered a lot of hypey, ridiculous business claims being screamed at me to join their system NOW!! Groan, get a new line and some ethics already.
Slow, steady growth is what makes for a solid business, not get rich quick schemes, so when you’re looking for a home business, don’t fall for all those “I earned $15,645 in 48 hours” claims. They didn’t without a ton of prior set-up work and promotion and you won’t either.
Pick a business you love, even if it doesn’t have a quick growth pattern because you will be more likely to stick with it and enjoy the process. The journey can be as much fun as the goal.
Enjoy!
It’s that time of year again, time to spring clean…not your house, but also your body. Actually this should be done more than once a year, but I forgot to mention it to you. So here’s my cleanse of choice because I will take liquids over pills any chance I get. This year, I’m being a bit more disciplined in doing it and am seeing the weight loss that others have mentioned. Cool!!
Over the years, I’ve had a variety of experiences with cleansing products in pill, liquid or tea form from gagging on the taste to actually, well…physically rejecting it, if you know what I mean. YUK!!
Iaso is different and finally, I have a product that does what it says and tastes not just tolerable, but good doing it. Add a slice of sqeezed lemon and you have a refreshing tea that will help your body run better and you may even lose some weight.
What do I mean by run better? Well, for instance, your nutritional supplements won’t work properly in your body if they can’t be absorbed and over time, toxins build up in our body, blocking the normal avenues that are used to absorb nutrients and naturally detox. Most of the time we don’t even know, but sometimes, we just feel sluggish and not up to par. You know what I mean?
IASO Tea is gentle, yet surprisingly powerful as a colon cleanse, parasite cleanse, Candida cleanse, blood purifier, and whole body detoxifier.
Wow!! That’s my initial reaction to the scent of the Soylicious candles and wax chunk melts. I have two melters going and it is scenting my entire 3 bedroom house and even wafting outside. As we have 4 inside pets and I cook a lot, there are various “scents” to overcome, lol.
I love the Sparkling Citrus, it is clean and fresh and a beautiful yellow that harks of Spring.
From a business standpoint, the lack of monthly sales quotas and small (just $29.95 + shipping) monthly cost for your product (a $45 retail value, should you decide to re-sell it) makes Soylicious a great option for an affordable home business.
If you start now, by summer you could have the beginnings of a new work at home lifestyle.
After a bit of a break from online business to build up some craft inventory, I’m back online and excited about a new venture with a candle business called Soylicious. Why Soylicious? Let me explain.
They’re not the biggest and they are fairly new to the direct sales model, although they have been making candles and selling wholesale and through fund raisers for 10 years, so there’s lots of experience there. Their direct sales business is growing tremendously and gaining market share rapidly. The green soy candles industry is booming and candles are purchased no matter the economy.
They make people feel good, add a wonderful aroma to your home and are needed in places where power outages are common, like Arkansas in winter. Yep, mid-December, the power goes out and I discover I have only three candles in the house. : (
They have a generous compensation plan, both a direct sales and networking structure with the facility for home parties, basket parties, fund-raising, and recruit commissions, as well as an affiliate structure with a shopping cart online retail store, so you can market the way you are most comfortable.
As someone who suffers from respiratory issues and chemical sensitivities, I have had reactions to many candles company’s products, probably most of the ones you can name. I found that, like when I make my own soy candles, I can tolerate Soylicious candles and their soy wax melting chunks fairly well. The scents seem clean.
Though the breathing aspect is by far the main reason I chose Soylicious, another attractive feature is their Balsa Wood candles. I adore the crackle of the wooden wick burning. It is like a mini campfire. : )
So, after a few months, I’ve found LiveWork to be sporadic. Sometimes, they have so many tasks that you can’t keep up and meet their deadline and sometimes there’s no work for weeks. This can be typical of new projects, so I’ll stay on, but you absolutely must have other options if you rely on your income.
On the other hand, I have heard that LiveOps is hiring.
I’ve been wondering what style of necklace would work for my “in the works” beaded embroidery or beaded mosaic pendants. It has to be something that would be balance the bead work. The easy way was a satin ribbon, maybe a good quality leather or a commercial chain. All okay options, but not quite the look I wanted.
Along came a better way, using a wire weaving technique called Viking Knit. It doesn’t look like much as it is being worked, but once it is pulled through the draw plate, it becomes very cool looking. A perfect compliment to the pendants if I include some complementary beads on the wires.
My practice pieces are short and made with plastic coated kid project wire that was all I had in the right gauge, so here’s a link to the amazing site where I found the tutorial. Thanks for providing that, Rocio! http://www.fineartbyrocio.com/vikingknitdirections.html Make sure you check out her work on the rest of the site.
She uses a dowel, but I didn’t have one, so I used a long bead tube (duh!) and it worked magnificently. I drilled a few different sized holes in a small block of wood and it worked brilliantly as a draw plate.
Careful now, this is yet another addictive technique. ; )
