Chevron Burp Cloth Tutorial – Easy Burp Cloth DIY

I like the bold simplicity of the chevron fabric from Riley Blake. It can go with most any baby theme. I have a rainbow of colors in stock. New moms need lots of burp cloths so make a bunch of these in little time. This post contains affiliate links.

Step

cut your fabric

 1. Measure the center part of the diaper. Cut the fabric 1/2 in wider and 1 in longer than the center part of the diaper. I use infant size Osocosy diapers. After washing & ironing, they measure about 10 in. x 14 in. My piece of fabric is 16 in. x 5 in.

Step 2. Iron the diaper, making sure to keep it rectangular. Using an ironing spray or water helps a lot. Then iron the burp cloth fabric turning the edge under 1/4 inch on both long sides. You can use a ruler to mark 1/4 inch.

pin the fabric to the diaper

Step 3. Center the burp cloth fabric on the diaper. Pin the fabric to the diaper starting at one of the short ends and then the other and then the longer sides.

Step 4. Starting on one of the larger sides in the middle sew the fabric to the diaper, sewing 1/8 inch from the folded edge. Sew around all 4 sides and back-stitch when you meet the beginning. You might have excess fabric when you get to the second short side, just smooth it out and repin.

Cut the threads and you are finished. Repeat as many times as you want. Looking for a great place to get fabric. I use fabric.com on Amazon.com. They have tons of fabric.
