Colorful Fall Leaf Dot Painting to Make Easy Printable

Make your own easy preschool colorful leaf craft. This craft has a free printable leaf outline in several different kinds.

You can decorate the leaf with your favorite media: paint, crayons, markers, or colored pencils. I choose washable tempura paints and a cotton swab for a fun painting experience.

This is a great fall arts and crafts project to talk about how leaves change color and fall off. Pick some colorful leaves for to use as examples for this colorful project.

Easy Fall Leaf Craft to Make: Dot Painting

Supplies

white cardstock
printable leaf template
washable paint
cotton swabs
small plate
scissors
pencil
glue

Step 1. Print

Print out the free leaf printable PDF on white cardstock or white printer paper. Cardstock will dry flat than the white thinner paper.

Let the outline dry for several minutes before using.

Click on the photo or title to print out the leaf outline for the large leaf template craft. You can also use your favorite media and color or collage the outline too. I used the 2nd oak leaf template

You can also have them draw their own leaf. Have them draw a large simple leaf in the middle of the paper. Leaf 1, Leaf 2, Leaf 3, Leaf 4, Maple 1, Maple 2, Oak 1, Oak 2.

Step 2. Paint Leaf

Next, put small amounts of the washable paints on a paper plate or palette. Let them use their fingers, a brush or cotton swabs to paint the leaf using different designs.

Add the stem if you want by creating dots close together at the bottom of the leaf if there is room. Otherwise at on a piece of paper for the stem with glue.

Let your leaves dry before moving to the next step.
