Time to add more letters to my letter of the week resources, for preschool classes. Here is the letter A resources , letter B resources and letter C resources. Today I am adding crafts for Letter D Activities.
I have gathered a list of different letter D activities from crafts, math, letter, recipes, and fine and gross motor skills.

The preschool room I worked in did 2 craft activities a day and one recipe a week. The kids loved to cook and eat what they made.
There were always lots of books different books for each week’s letter theme. We played games and did physical activities around the letters too. ABCs Yoga for Kids was always a favorite.

Animal of the Week
A stuffed animal or bug is a great way to introduce the letter of the week.

Recipes and Snack Ideas for the Letter D
- Donut
- Date Cookie
- Yogurt dip for veggie

Dough – make any recipe that you form a dough with like bread or cookies.
Donuts -Use 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough. Punch a hole in the middle of each biscuit (a bottle cap will work). Fry in 1 inch of hot oil for about 1 minute or until light brown on both sides (fry the “holes” too). When cool, shake in a bag of cinnamon mixed with sugar, brown sugar, or powdered sugar.

Directed Drawing – Draw a simple Letter D item like a donut and have the kid follow along and draw it. Example: Draw a large circle in the middle of paper. In the middle of the circle draw a smaller circle. Color the large circle brown but no the center part.
Letter D Alphabet Activities
Free Printable of Letter D Words – Great for circle time to introduce words that start with D such as dog, deer, dragonfly, dragon, dot, dessert, desert, desk, donut, dump truck, and more. Let them try to come up with ideas.
Bring a Letter D Item- Have the kids bring a letter D item to school (with parents’ approval of course) and share. If they can’t bring the item remind them, they could bring a photo of the item instead.
Playdoh Letter Mat- Print out both uppercase and lowercase large on a piece of paper and form the letters with the playdoh
Loose Parts Letter Tracing – Print out large letters and use different items to cover the shape of the letters like flat marbles, beans, bottle caps, pompoms, pony beads, etc. (warning small parts)
